Conventional Weapons #3：The World Is Ugly / The Light Behind Your Eyes 中文試翻

2012年9月14號，Frank在官網上宣布了他們的新計畫-Conventional Weapons(常見武器)。

這張專輯的10首未公開歌曲是在2009年錄製Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys期間誕生的。

Conventional Weapons只有發行黑膠唱片和數位音源，總共有五個主題，每個主題都包含A、B兩首歌。

這次翻的Number Three是我最喜歡的兩首歌

註釋：

1. the taken在口語上常用來表示我死會了/我有男or女朋友了，講簡單一點就是被占有、被拿走的意思，在這裡我選擇了被征服這個詞，有放棄和世界抵抗、隨波逐流的意涵。
2. burn在這裡指的是情緒中的怒火。
3. army除了解釋成軍隊，也有一大群的意思，形容被征服者的人數眾多。
4. 編輯影片的時候常看到fade in(淡入)、fade out(淡出)的特效，「淡入」是由原先全暗的畫面漸次明亮直至色調明暗度正常的過程，也就是讓畫面越來越鮮明。從歌詞來看，夜晚象徵著失落、絕望，我們越是不得志就越要懷抱希望，不要一蹶不振的沉入黑暗之中；另一個解讀是，nights和lights其實就代表著舞台，MCR曾在舞台上發光發熱。
5. 這句我研究了一陣子，倍數+as...as代表著A是B的幾倍~，所以twice as hard就表示有兩倍的困難，我在想後面可能省略了as their hearts，呼應我們的心跳和他們不同，我們比他們努力。
6. one thing我覺得每個人都有不同的解讀，我自己是解釋成情感或意志，你的感受永遠只屬於你自己。
7. 最後的機器人語音Gerard在推特說明是取自Vampires Will Never Hurt You的歌詞，基本上跟這首歌的關聯不大。

Gerard說這首歌最初是在BP巡演期間於韓國的飯店寫的(我查了一下是2008年)，他很喜歡當下的豐沛情感。

我看過有人說這是首在講述愛情的歌，但容我有別的想法，我認為這是首勵志的歌。

所謂的被征服者，有可能是和生活、現實妥協的人，他們拋棄了自我，選擇龜在舒適圈裡安全的過日子，害怕變動所以排斥任何新奇的事物(They burn ‘cause they are all afraid)。

歌曲中的主角則是照自己的意志生活的人，他認為自己的心跳是充滿熱情的，會因為情緒起伏而變化，而被征服者的心跳大概是穩定平淡的；Are you thinking of me/Like I’m thinking of you應該是表達他關心周遭人們的想法，他想要鼓勵他們為自己而活，對人生懷抱希望，雖然過程艱辛，他也會堅持下去。
至於I would say I’m sorry, though/Though I really need to go，我個人認為是MCR對一路以來支持他們的粉絲說的話，雖然我們解散了，但記住我們給予你們的信念。

註釋：

1. 由下一句歌詞得知，主角的朋友們遇到了一些不如意的事情，要從逆境中重新站起相當艱辛漫長。
2. 哄你入睡就表示陪在你身邊，有守護你的意涵。
3. 眼眸中的光芒代表著自信與希望，呼應The world is ugly中的There’s one thing they’ll never take from you。
4. 主角不敢保證他能夠永遠守護對方，他也有可能被現實擊垮。
5. 在上一首的註釋裡有提到fade in的解釋，照理說畫面應該要越來越顯色鮮明，但在這裡卻是變成漆黑一片，有不得不向命運低頭的意思存在，和These are the nights and the lights that we fade in作對比。
6. 儘管有失落的時候，也要存有希望。

這首歌是Gerard想著女兒寫下的，他想要一首曲風聽起來像Pink Floyd的High Hopes的歌，另外他也提到自己的感受：樂團終有結束的一天。

單純從歌詞來看，主角和朋友們分開了，他聽到了一些壞消息，心裡巴不得飛奔到朋友們身邊陪伴他們度過難關，但是他也明白自己不可能一輩子守候他們，所以希望朋友可以堅強起來，別被命運擊垮。
從MCR的角度來解釋，這首歌可能是寫給他們自己也是寫給歌迷的，一路走來有辛酸也有快樂，如今大家已經要分道揚鑣了(We’ll say goodbye today)，就算不能陪在彼此的身邊，我們還是要好好的為人生努力，永遠懷抱著希望(Never fade in the dark/Just remember you will always burn as bright)。
Sometimes we must grow stronger and/You can be stronger when I'm gone/When I’m here, no longer/You must be stronger and 這一整段洋蔥滿滿，讓我非常感動。

我回歸聽MCR時的第一首歌就是聽了The Light Behind Your Eyes，當下剛好爬到他們解散的文章，我不知所措的呆在電腦前，心情也不是難過，只是滿滿的錯愕，接著後悔自己當初沒有好好的記住他們。後來看了網友推薦又去聽了The World Is Ugly，聽到副歌時就不自覺的流淚了，真的好喜歡好喜歡這首歌詞，而且曲編的很棒，像是在歌聲後輕輕呢喃，特別愛接近尾聲時一句歌詞一段吉他的部分，感覺在回應著：I'm thinking of you,too/You don't need to say sorry/I'll let you go。

就這樣分享了我大力推薦的兩首神曲，希望大家喜歡。
